Residents of Perumbakkam (Ward 192) faced a severe drinking water crisis for 15 days after a major underground pipeline burst near the Perumbakkam Flyover. Over 120 complaints were logged on the TVK portal. TVK ward committee members escalated the issue directly to the Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (CMWSSB) Commissioner with a formal petition signed by 800 residents. TVK arranged 8 water tanker trips daily at ₹0 cost to the residents while the pipe repair was underway. Full supply was restored on 10 April 2026 after emergency repair of 240m of pipeline. CMWSSB also agreed to install a secondary pipeline as redundancy. TVK will follow up for insurance compensation for affected families.
